இந்தப் படம் முடிந்ததும் சீமான் இயக்கத்தில் பகலவனில் நடிக்கிறார். இதற்கிடையே 3 இடியட்ஸ் படத்தின் ரீமேக்கிலும் நடிக்க ஒப்புக் கொண்டுள்ளார். இந்தப் படம் எப்போது துவங்கும் என்பது குறித்து ஏதும் ஐடியா இல்லாததால், கைவசம் உள்ள படங்களை முடிப்பதில் வேகம் காட்டுகிறார் விஜய்.

தவம் இருந்ததைப் போல விக்ரம் நடித்த ‘ராவணன்’ படம் எதிர்பார்த்த வெற்றியை கொடுக்காததால். இனி ஆண்டுகளை பிடிக்கும் படங்களை விட மாதக்கணக்கில் முடிக்கும் கமர்ஷியல் படங்களில் நடிப்பதே சரி, என்ற முடிவுக்கு வந்த விக்ரம், பூபதி பாண்டியன், செல்வராகவன் என இரண்டு இயக்குநர்களின் படங்களிலும் நடிக்க சம்மதம் தெரிவித்தார். பிறகு இரண்டு படங்களிலும் ஏகப்பட குழப்பங்கள் நிலவ விக்ரமின் அடுத்தப்படம் என்ன என்பதில் கோடம்பாக்கமே விக்ரமுடன் சேர்ந்து குழம்பிக்கொண்டிருந்தது.

We saw Vijay's son Sanjay for the first time in ‘Vettaikaran’ dancing with his father for the song “Naan Adicha Thaangamaate”. Now Vijay's son Sanjay will again do a cameo in his father's upcoming film ‘Kavalkaran’.

According to reliable sources from the Vijay camp Sanjay will again do a cameo in ‘Kavalkaran’ and is part of the climax scene appearing with his father as his son.

Vijay's land mark 50th film ‘Sura’ has opened to bumper response all over the world today. His 51st film ‘Kavalkaran’ is also eagerly awaited. It completed its first schedule of shooting in and around Kumbakonam and Karaikudi areas. The final part of the first schedule is currently happening along the ECR in Chennai.

Only Vijay and Asin participated in the first schedule. The impressive casting of ‘Kavalkaran’ include Rajkiran and Roja playing the parents of Asin.

‘Kavalan’ is the forthcoming movie of Vijay which has a lot of things at stake. It is the 51st film of Vijay. After a fairly long poor run at the box office Vijay is expecting a lot out of this film. The heroine Asin is also praying for acceptance after her escapades in Sri Lanka has not gone down well with the Tamil community across the world.

‘Kavalan’ is the remake of the Malayalam film ‘Bodyguard’ and has nothing to do with the Kevin Costner film. The film was announced first with the title ‘Kaaval Karan’ and when Sathya Movies, the producer of the MGR super hit objected the title was changed to ‘Kaaval Kadhal’. But the changed title was not liked by Vijay fans and finally the film got the name ‘Kavalan’.

The film is about the strange fascination of a guy who worships anyone with a trace of heroism. He one comes across a reformed liquor mogul and now leading businessman and finds him to be his hero. He then joins him as the bodyguard to protect his beautiful daughter.

The body guard and the beautiful daughter fall in love without knowing to each other and later separate without wanting to. What happened to their love and after is the story. The first half is expected to be a hilarious entertainer while the story tales a serious turn in the second half and the climax will be a shocker.

In the original version the lead characters were played by Dileep, Nayantara, Mithra Kurian and Thiyagarajan. In Tamil the roles are played by Vijay, Asin, Mithra Kurian and Raj Kiran. Vadivelu is for comedy and Roja returns playing the wife of Raj Kiran. In fact Asin was first approached even for the Malayalam film. As she was busy with her Bollywood assignment Nayantara stepped in.

Livingston. MS Baskar, Delhi Ganesh, Nizhalgal Ravi are also in the cast. Music director is Vidyasagar and the film has six songs. Cinematography N K Ekambaram and Editing is by Gowri Shankar. The film is being made at a cost or Rs. 38 crores according to sources.

The Malayalam original was released in January this year and the Tamil version was up and going from April onwards. The first schedule happened in Kumbakonam. The whole movie was shot in places like Karaikudi, Kumbakonam and Vellore. Overseas shootings were done in Malaysia, Bangkok and Europe. This will be the second film in the combination of Siddique and Vijay. The first one was the ‘Friends’. Vijay and Asin come together after ‘Sivakasi’ and ‘Pokkiri’. All these combination films have been block busters and so the hype is already there.

But the film was in news for most times for reasons which were not production related. First then were precarious confusions over title. Then a controversy broke over the Tamil remake rights of the Malayalam film.

One Johnny Sagarikaa, a producer who had earlier obtained the remake rights of ‘Bodyguard’ in Tamil and other languages, reportedly mortgaged the remake rights to Gokulam Chit Funds for a financial loan. After knowing the Siddique is remaking his film in Tamil Johnny approached the Nadigar Sangam and the case in with them.

Then during the shooting in Karaikudi, Asin reportedly fainted allegedly due to a strange gas leak inside her caravan. Later they said it was due to a fault in the air-conditioner.

But the biggest controversy that is even threatening the release and then survival of the film was that Asin’s visit to Sri Lanka. When all the industry associations like TFPC, FEFSI, Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners and Distributors associations and SIFCC had requested the Indian film industry to boycott Sri Lanka for business as the country is standing trial for genocide of Tamils and human rights violations. But Asin went ahead and shot for her Hindi film with Salman Khan. She said she is under the contract of the producer and she has no power in deciding shooting locations.

Had she quietly done the shooting and come back things wouldn’t have gone this bad. Asin stayed back in Sri Lanka even after the shooting and travelled to places which were devastated by war, and banned for most of the world media and NGOs in with President Mahinda Rajapaksha’s wife Shiranthi and behaved like a government sponsored ambassador. This has angered the SIFCC and they have called for a ban of ‘Kavalan’ and subsequently on Asin.

Another recent development is that the producer-director Shakthi Chidambaram has acquired the film. When the distributors of Vijay’s earlier films have refused to back up ‘Kavalan’ and are demanding hefty compensation from Vijay saying his recent movies has put them in debt trap, the move of Shakthi Chidambaram is being considered a bold act by many. ‘Kavalan’ is produced by C Ramesh Babu under the banner of Eka Veera Creations.

‘Kavalan’ is all set to redefine the fate of almost all the people related to it. When the film releases in December many provoking questions would have found answers.

Endhiran is India's technical best movie

Sabu Cyril has become the hottest production designer in Indian cinema.

Superstar Rajinikanth and King Khan are all praise for his work for their sci-fi films Endhiran (The Robot) and Ra.One. Sabu, who is doing four Bollywood biggies (Ra.One, Aakrosh, Tees Maar Khan and Bullet Train) at the moment, speaks.

Tell us about how Endhiran evolved...
Shankar first approached me 10 years ago to make ‘Robot’ with Kamal Haasan in the lead. Shankar came with a bound script then but it did not work out due to budget constraints and was put on the backburner. Three years ago, he came back and told me that he was reviving the film with Rajinikanth as hero. He had made suitable changes in the script, keeping Rajini sir’s image in mind and got a producer like Kalanidhi Maran, who could spend big money on it.

You seem to have a liking for sci-fi movies...
During my school and college days, I have watched every sci-fi movie from Hollywood. In early 90s, I did a Tamil serial for Doordarshan in which the central character was a robotic dog that I made for Rs 5, 000, a huge amount in those days. The serial clicked because the dog looked realistic. Later, I made a shark for a Malayalam film.

How difficult was it to create the Robot and sets of the film?
I visited all the major special effects studios in Hollywood. That gave me the confidence that we could make the Robot with its mechanical movements in India. For a couple of months, I was in LA at the studio where they created Jurassic Park and Iron Man. We created more than 35 sets, including hi-tech sets, helicopters, Armed Personnel Carrier and a few other futuristic gadgets. It was the most challenging job that I’ve ever taken up. Every scene in the film has been taken with great care.

How do you think Endhiran has shaped out?
Technically, it is the best film ever made in India. I have watched parts of the film during post production work and I feel the screenplay and Shankar’s script are the backbone, along with Rajinikanth’s awesome performance in a dual role as the scientist and the Robot (who is a humanoid). The film, like all Shankar films, has been made like an extravagant entertainer with mind-blowing songs by
A R Rahman and will appeal to all sections of the audience. We have created sets for four songs, which will be a visual treat. The huge budget spent for the film will be justified when you watch it on the screen.

What is the difference between Endhiran and Ra.One, both sci-fi films?
They are in different genres of sci-fi. The story of Endhiran is set in the present-day world, while Ra.One belongs to the virtual reality world

Vijay's upcoming film 'Velayudham' scheduled for a back-to-back shooting of 180days has surprised the town.
Actor Vijay usually prefers a quickie as almost his previous films have been churned out within short span of time. But on contrastive grounds, his upcoming film 'Velayudham' will be shot for 180 days and it's spinning more sensations now.

Much prior to Vijay’s 50th film Sura would hit screens, the actor has already completed the first schedule for Kavalkaran. Followed by Vettaikaran, Vijay has once again chosen the title of yesteryear MGR film Kavalkaran. The actor reasserts that choosing the yesteryear titles of superstars’ films gains more prominence for his films.

As known earlier, Kavalkaran is a remake of Malayalam film Bodyguard (Dileep and Nayantara in lead roles). The film is directed by Siddique and marks the comeback of Asin in Tamil film industry.

The first schedule has been shot across the locales of Kumbakonam, Kaaraikudi and Pollachi. According to the buzz, yesteryear actors Raj Kiran and Roja seem to have been signed for this film for enacting the role of Asin’s parents. Followed by the grand success, Ghilli and Kuruvi, music director Vidyasagar has scored music for this Vijay’s film.

Ilayathalapathy Vijay will start the tamil remake of Malayalam movie Body Guard as his 51st film from April 5th. Directed by Siddique, the film cast Vijay and Asin in the lead roles. Vijay will play the role done by Dileep while Asin is going to do Nayanthara’s role in the Malayalam original. Director Siddique has made some minor changes in the tamil version to suit Vijay’s style.

Vijay was shown the preview of the movie along with his wife earlier and Vijay liked the script and immediately expressed his wish to remake it in Tamil. Body Guard is a romantic comedy and a family entertainer with sentiments too.

Director Siddique says, “Actually when I narrated Bodyguard story to Vijay two years back he was very keen to do it first in Tamil, but I always try out my films in Malayalam then only I will do in other languages.”

Siddique and Vijay worked together long back for their film Friends, which was also a Malayalam film in original.
